OUR SERVICES
Unattended Ash Scattering
If you are unable to be present for your loved one’s ash scattering, our Unattended Ash Scattering service offers a respectful and dignified alternative. The ceremony is conducted by our licensed captain in the Pacific Ocean, honoring your loved one with care, professionalism, and respect.
You Receive:
Respectful handling of your loved one’s ashes
A certificate noting the date, time, and GPS coordinates of the scattering
Environmentally responsible scattering in compliance with regulations
Live Ceremony
Join us for a private, in-person Live Ocean Memorial Ceremony to honor your loved one. This guided ceremony provides a respectful and personalized way to pay tribute, conducted aboard our vessel and surrounded by the serenity of the Pacific Ocean. The service accommodates up to 15 guests, with the option to include additional attendees, up to a maximum of 20 guests total.
Annual Anniversary
Each year offers an opportunity to honor your loved one and reflect on enduring memories. Our Annual Anniversary Service allows families to return to the original location of the ash scattering for a private and meaningful moment of remembrance. With care and professionalism, we help create a serene ceremony that is both personal and deeply respectful.

Our boat travels 3 miles out into the open ocean, operating safely and responsibly in full compliance with all U.S. Coast Guard regulations. This ensures not only a smooth and enjoyable experience for our guests but also the highest standards of safety and environmental care during the journey.

Captain Joss Martinez, originally from the south of France, brings over 30 years of experience at sea. Since establishing his base in Marina del Rey in 2008, he has navigated the waters with skill, care, and deep respect for the ocean. In 2015, he founded a sea charter company that includes Ocean Memorial LA, created to provide meaningful, dignified memorial services at sea. Captain Joss is honored to guide families through these deeply personal moments, where tradition, professionalism, and compassion come together on the open ocean.
